Realizing the need for a "New deal" for the watermen of Queen Anne's County and the State of Maryland, a number of prominent watermen of this country late last summer successfully initiated a movement which culminated in the organization of the Watermen's Protective Association, the first definite organization of this nature to be founded, so far as is known, in Queen Anne's County.
The organization begun with a meeting at Chester, last August, has for its sole purpose, the protection and advancement of those interests directly affecting the economic welsore of all watermen of the county and its membership numbering about 600 is open to all watermen alike irrespective of political affliation or religious creed.
Founded for the purpose of advancing those interests most affecting the welfare of watermen there has been from the beginning of the organizatino a marked desire to cooperate with the Conservation Department of the State.
